Reactions on a Semimicro Scale: A Reliable System: Glass Ampoule, Closure, Accessories
Derivatisations on a semimicro scale are common in analytical chemistry and in particular chromatography.
A few examples:
- Fatty acid analysis (methylester formation)
- Steroid analysis (trimethylsilylation)
- Separation of enantiomers (esterfication, acylations)
- Derivatisation reactions for HPLC (OPA, Fmoc, Dansyl, etc.)
The seal of the reaction vessel (which of course must withstand high internal pressures) and exclusion of contamination must be ensured if reliable results are to be expected.
Stress-free Duran 50 borosilicate glass (Part No. H250) conic bottom 1 ml internal volume
Advantages
Small amounts can be readily handled
can be sealed either by C.A.T. stainless steel screw closures (Part No. H500) with excellent sealing properties (Septum replacement: Part No. H 400),
or polypropylenes stoppers (Part No. 310)
or conventional aluminum crimp seal
The low cost of the vials allows them to be discarded after use, thus reducing the danger of contamination and eliminating tedious cleaning of vials
